Digital radiography is a form of x-ray imaging where digital x-ray sensors are used instead of traditional photographic film. A major patient advantage to digital radiography is less radiation can be used to produce an image of similar contrast to conventional radiography. This equates to up to 90% less radiation exposure for your pet!
Other advantages include:
Time efficiency (bypassing chemical processing) and the ability to digitally transfer and enhance images. Digital x-ray offers immediate image preview and availability resulting in a faster diagnosis to you our client and especially important for animals under anesthesia.
A wider dynamic range making it more forgiving for over- and under-exposure equating to less time required for your pet on the x-ray table, and lower number of radiographs taken of your pet.
Ability to apply special image processing techniques that enhance overall display of the image (better image dispay = more accurate diagnosis).
Convenience of emailing images to veterinary specialists allowing quick communication regarding your pet’s health within minutes of taking the radiographs.
As an added convenience we also offer digital dental radiography. This is a special unit used for the sole purpose of radiographing teeth. This unit is located in our dental suite, making is it available while performing dental procedures. Dental radiographs provide an immense amount of valuable information of the condition under your pet’s gum line.
